歴史的背景
The original Una and the Lion design was created by William Wyon for the British five-pound piece of 1839 during the early reign of Queen Victoria.
Inspired by Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene, the design portrays the young Queen Victoria as Una walking beside the British lion, transforming a literary scene into a royal allegory.
This 2019 issue revisits the celebrated composition while preserving its themes of guidance, restraint, and quiet strength.

エドマンド・スペンサーの叙事詩『妖精の女王』をもとに、若きヴィクトリア女王をウナとして、英国のライオンとともに描いた王室の寓意として知られています。
