Historical Note
The modern Silver Britannia series began in 1997, ten years after the introduction of the Gold Britannia.
Philip Nathan’s Britannia became the modern face of the series. His design presents Britannia with a shield for protection, an olive branch for peace, and a trident representing Britain’s seafaring tradition.
This 1998 issue comes from the early period of the Silver Britannia series, when the coins were still struck in .958 Britannia Silver.

Philip Nathan
FALJU Perspective
FALJU COINS selected this piece for the restrained presence of Philip Nathan’s standing Britannia and its place in the early history of the modern Silver Britannia series.
We view this coin not simply as a small silver proof, but as an early example of a design that became one of the most recognizable modern interpretations of Britannia.
The compact 1/4 oz format gives the design a concentrated presence while preserving the key elements of the original composition.
