Saint-Pierre et Miquelon is the last remaining French territorial possession in North America.
In 1948, the islands issued their only local coinage, consisting of one franc and two francs pieces struck for circulation.
The obverse depicts Marianne, while the reverse presents a fishing schooner, reflecting the maritime economy that shaped the islands for generations.
