Historical Note
Queen Victoria was born on 24 May 1819 and became queen in 1837 at the age of 18.
Her reign became associated with a period of major social, economic, scientific, and technological change in Britain.
For the 200th anniversary of her birth in 2019, The Royal Mint issued this £5 coin with a design by John Bergdahl. The reverse uses a machinery cog motif and an interpretation of the classic young portrait of Victoria, together with references to innovation from the Victorian age.
The edge inscription, WORKSHOP OF THE WORLD, reflects the industrial character associated with the period.

ヴィクトリア女王は1819年5月24日に生まれ、1837年、18歳で即位しました。
その治世は、英国における社会、経済、科学、技術が大きく変化した時代と重なります。
生誕200周年となる2019年、ロイヤルミントはJohn Bergdahlによるデザインを採用した5ポンド記念貨を発行しました。裏面には歯車を思わせる構成の中に、若きヴィクトリアの肖像と、ヴィクトリア朝の革新を示すモチーフが組み込まれています。
