PF69 and PF70: What Is the Difference?
PF69とPF70の違い
PF69 and PF70 are grades used for proof coins.
Proof coins are specially made for collectors.
They are usually struck with extra care and often have mirrored fields and sharp details.
On the 1 to 70 grading scale, PF70 represents the highest possible grade.
NGC defines 70 as a coin with no post-production imperfections visible at 5x magnification.
PF69 is also a very high grade, but it allows for nearly imperceptible imperfections.
For many collectors, the difference between PF69 and PF70 can be difficult to see with the naked eye.
The difference is often not dramatic visually, especially on modern proof coins.
However, the market may treat the two grades differently.
PF70 coins can command higher prices, especially when the issue is popular, the mintage is limited, or the population in PF70 is relatively low.
That does not mean PF70 is always the better purchase.
The coin itself, the design, the series, the price, and the collector’s purpose all matter.

1〜70の鑑定スケールにおいて、PF70は最高グレードです。
NGCでは、70を「5倍拡大で製造後の欠点が見られないもの」と定義しています。
PF69も非常に高いグレードですが、ほとんど分からない程度の微細な欠点が許容されるグレードです。
多くのコレクターにとって、PF69とPF70の違いは肉眼では分かりにくい場合があります。特に現代プルーフコインでは、見た目の差が大きくないことも少なくありません。
一方で、市場ではPF69とPF70の価格差が出ることがあります。
人気の高い発行品、発行枚数が少ないもの、PF70の鑑定枚数が少ないものでは、PF70が高く評価される場合があります。
ただし、PF70であれば常に良い選択というわけではありません。
コインそのもののデザイン、シリーズ、価格、そしてコレクター自身の目的も重要です。
